E-voting : “We’ll resist plans to turn Nigeria into North Korea” – CUPP

…Urges Nigerians to checkmate politics of APC domination

The Coalition of United Political Parties, (CUPP), has condemned the rejection of e- transmission of election results by the National Assembly, saying it was resolved to mobilise the citizens and resist any plan by the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC)-led Federal Government to turn Nigeria into a one-party and Police State like North Korea.

This is just as the coalition called on all Nigerians to remain vigilant and checkmate the politics of domination being played by the ruling APC, in order to silence the opposition and prevent freedom of choice, even as it pointedly declared that any plans to shortchange Nigerians on their constitutional and democratic rights shall fail woefully.

The CUPP National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Mark Adebayo, gave this charge yesterday, in its reaction to the National Assembly’s rejection of e-transmission of election results, even as he declared that the assurance by Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), that it could transmit electronically results of polls from any nook and cranny of the country had exposed the lies of the APC and its allies.

Adebayo maintained that the manipulation of the outcome of the debate and voting on the issue of electronic transmission of election results from the polling units by the Federal lawmakers in both chambers was deliberately facilitated by the APC government as part of its evil agenda to turn Nigeria into a one-party State, despite its woeful performances in the last six years.

According to him, the ruling APC is desperate to hold onto power despite its unprecedented poor records on all templates of governance in the country, a development that he said had “plunged the country into unimaginable misery, multi-dimensional poverty, disunity and intractable insecurity”.

“Rejection of the electronic transmission of results by the APC-dominated National Assembly is a deliberate machination to ensure mass rigging of the 2023 elections.

“Nigerians must resist this attempt to hold our democracy hostage and destroy the freedom of the people to freely choose public officers they prefer in free, fair and credible elections”, Comrade Adebayo said.
